THE QUICK ANSWER
RE:UP is at 20 Huxley Street in Broadheath, five minutes from Altrincham town centre with free parking. A 45-minute sports massage with a Level 5 qualified therapist is £30. Sessions run 7am to 9pm, seven days a week, and you book online with no membership or referral. If the problem is an injury rather than tightness, start with the £60 injury assessment instead.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION
45 minutes, spent where it counts
A sports massage at RE:UP is a treatment, not a routine. It starts with questions and a look at how you move, because the place that hurts is often not the place that needs work.
1
A short assessment
Your therapist asks what you do, what hurts and what you want from the session, then looks at posture and a few movements. Five minutes, and it decides where the 40 that follow are spent.
2
Treatment matched to the tissue
Deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point pressure or cupping, chosen for what the assessment found rather than one method applied everywhere. Pressure is worked to what you can tolerate.
3
What to do next
You leave knowing what was found, what to stretch or load, and whether it is worth coming back or booking an injury assessment instead. No upsell, just the honest answer.

Three private treatment rooms off reception at 20 Huxley Street.
TECHNIQUES
What a Level 5 therapist brings to the table
Level 5 is the highest sports massage qualification in the UK, above the Level 3 and 4 diplomas most high-street therapists hold. In practice it means assessment skills and a wider range of techniques, so the treatment changes with what the tissue is doing.
Deep tissue massage
Slow, firm pressure into the deeper layers of muscle and fascia to release chronic tightness and restore length.
Myofascial release
Sustained pressure and stretch through the connective tissue that binds muscle groups, for restrictions that ordinary massage does not reach.
Trigger point therapy
Direct, held pressure on the knots that refer pain elsewhere, such as a shoulder trigger point that shows up as a headache.
Dry cupping
Suction cups lift tissue rather than compress it, drawing blood flow into stubborn areas. Used where appropriate, never by default.
Dry cupping guide →Pre-event and post-event work
Lighter, faster work before a race or match to prime tissue. Slower flushing work afterwards to clear load and reduce next-day soreness.
Movement assessment
Every session starts with a short look at posture and how you move, so the treatment targets the cause rather than where it hurts.
WHAT SPORTS MASSAGE TREATS
What people come in with
Roughly half of our massage clients are athletes managing training load. The other half sit at a desk in Altrincham or Manchester and have the neck, shoulders and lower back to show for it.
Lower back pain
Desk posture, cycling, lifting and long drives.
Neck and shoulder tightness
Screen work, contact sport and overhead training.
Hamstring and calf tightness
Accumulated running and football load.
IT band syndrome
Lateral knee tightness in runners and cyclists.
Plantar fasciitis
Calf, Achilles and plantar fascia worked together to reduce heel pain.
Hip and glute tightness
Cycling, squatting and sitting all load the same tissue.
Post-marathon recovery
Flushing work in the days after a long race.
General maintenance
Regular sessions to keep training without breaking down.
WHICH ONE TO BOOK
Sports massage or injury assessment?
The honest split. Book the wrong one and you will be told on the day and moved across, but this saves you the trip.

WHO COMES TO RE:UP
From Saturday footballers to the 7am desk crowd
Footballers and weekend-league players
Hamstrings, calves, hip flexors and groins take the load in football. Players from local clubs use sports massage in the days after a match to clear soreness and keep range of motion through a long season.
Runners and cyclists
Athletes from Altrincham & District AC, Altrincham Velo and the Manchester Marathon training crowd use sports massage for IT band, hamstring, calf and Achilles tightness during heavy blocks.
Rugby, hockey and lacrosse players
Contact and stick sports load the shoulders, neck and lower back across a season. Players from Bowdon and Timperley clubs use massage between matches to keep range of motion and clear soreness.
People who sit all day
Half of our massage clients are not athletes. Neck, shoulder and lower back tightness from desk work responds well to deep tissue work, and a 45-minute session fits before work or on the way home. Open from 7am.
UNDER THE SAME ROOF
Massage, then sauna, then the plunge
RE:UP is the only place in Altrincham where sports massage, an 8-person Finnish sauna, two ice baths at 4 to 7°C and Normatec compression are in one building. The combination is the point: heat after massage relaxes tissue that has just been worked, a short cold plunge brings the inflammation down, and you leave feeling like a different person.
A 90-minute recovery session is £20 and can be booked for straight after your massage.

QUESTIONS
Sports massage in Altrincham, answered
RE:UP is at 20 Huxley Street, Broadheath, Altrincham WA14 5EL, five minutes from the town centre with free parking. Sports massage is delivered by Level 5 qualified therapists in 45-minute sessions from £30, seven days a week from 7am to 9pm. Book online, no membership or referral needed.
At RE:UP a 45-minute sports massage is £30. That is below the typical Altrincham price of £40 to £55 for a comparable session. If you have a specific injury rather than general tightness, an injury assessment and treatment session is £60, with follow-ups at £40.
It can be uncomfortable where tissue is tight, but it should never be painful in a way you cannot breathe through. Your therapist works to the pressure you can tolerate and checks in throughout. Some tenderness for 24 to 48 hours afterwards is normal, like the feeling after a hard training session.
Sports massage is hands-on soft tissue treatment for tightness, soreness and range of motion. Physiotherapy is a regulated profession focused on diagnosis and rehabilitation. RE:UP does not offer physiotherapy. Our therapists are Level 5 qualified sports massage therapists and sports therapists. For a diagnosed condition, post-surgical rehab or anything you would see a physio for, our injury assessment service is the right starting point, and we will refer on if you need a physiotherapist or GP.
For most people training three or more times a week, every two to four weeks keeps tissue quality up and catches problems early. Around a race or event, a lighter session in the final week and a deeper one a few days after works well. If you sit at a desk and train occasionally, monthly is usually enough.
Wear or bring shorts and a vest or sports bra so the therapist can work on the areas that need it. You are draped throughout. Bring a towel if you can, we usually have some on the day. There are private changing rooms and hot showers on site.
Neither. Book a session online and turn up. Memberships exist for people who use the sauna and ice bath regularly, but sports massage is booked and paid per session.
Yes, and it is a good combination. Massage, sauna, ice baths and Normatec compression are all in the same building. Book the recovery session for after your massage: heat first to relax the tissue that has just been worked, then a short cold plunge. Many of our regulars do exactly this on a rest day.
